Is this right? Are these sorts of sites trustworthy? Does anyone have experience in this area? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Resolved Question: In GWS, does it make sense...?

to promote equality by discussing issues that affect every of us? If you're not here for equality, then simply don't respond. I've grown very concerned that autism will prove to be like mesothelioma, i.e., that we will ultimately discover that autism is directly caused by some common substance (like a flame retardent or insecticide), just like mesothelioma is caused by exposure to asbestos. receive rid of asbestos and mesothelioma goes away. receive rid of XYZ substance and autism goes away. I'm concerned that we as human beings are leaving a natural wilderness (as we cultivate civilization) only to create a new one.

Resolved Question: Anybody have any info about Carswell AFB in Fort Worth?

My mom died of mesothelioma, which is the asbestos cancer, last year. We have no idea where she was exosed so I am trying to learn as much as I can about the places she lived. She lived at Carswell in the fifties. I would like to know if anybody knows anything about Carswell, or the area surrounding it. If there are any factories around that area, or how far away it is from the Summit and 5th streets (because 19 mesothelioma cases were diagnosed in that area). Just any info you have would be helpful. Thanks so much!

Resolved Question: Do you know any women who had mesothelioma?

And if so, do you know how they were exposed to asbestos or if anybody else in their family had mesothelioma too? My mom died a few years ago from this disease and we don't know how she was exposed, so just trying to receive information. She was actually a surgical nurse for 30 years. The hospital she worked at was always being renovated as it was very old, but we don't know if that is how she was exposed or not. I am just hoping that it is not some random genetic thing that is completely un-related to asbestos.

Resolved Question: Am I at a great risk of developing mesothelioma?

The other day, I was doing electrical work at a an old church. I was rewiring in the ceiling, where there were broken tiles and lots of debris. In my 8 hours of work there, I can say positively that a while bunch of debris landed on my head, face, and body, and I do know that a lot of it got into my mouth. It wasn't until I was about 95% done with the job that a co-worker told me that I should not have been doing that without a respirator, due to the fact that there was 1% asbestos in the tiles. I am very new at the job, and I wasn't aware of any of this. Am I at a high risk of developing lung problems in the future? If so, how long will it be before I notice any effects?

Resolved Question: Does anyone know if mild to moderate emphysema can be very painful. Is it possible that there may be another?

problem that the doctors have overlooked. Like mesothelioma becuase my dad was a smoker for 40 years but also was exposed to asbestos for about 30 years working as a mechanic. Plus there is asbestos in the home he has lived in for 30 years. he has been to two doctors and both have said it is emphesema. he has not smoked in 2-3 years. his symtoms are stabbing pain in right side of chest, neck, and right arm that has been constant for three years. his cheeks and neck receive hot. sensitivity to light. the main thing that worries me is the right arm and neck being included in the pain. if someone could tell me that this is normal we would both feel alot better. thanks

Resolved Question: What are the stages of mesothelioma?

Hi. I was exposed to asbestos, silica and hydrofluoric acid fumes on the job for 10 years (20 yrs ago). In 05 I went into respiratory failure. An open lung biopsy turned up pleural Atypical Mesothelial Hyperplasia. The pulmonologists say it is asbestos related but it won't go any further. The brave people I've talked to who are dealing with mesothelioma say they had Atypical Mesothelial Hyperplasia at one time. Anyone know the stages of Mesothelioma?? thanks

Voting Question: how to read this sentence ?

Although exposure to asbestos is the primary cause of mesothelioma, a slow-developing cancer, researchers believe that infection by the SV40 virus is a contributing cause, since in the United States 60 percent of tissue samples from mesotheliomas, but none from healthy tissue, contain SV40 please look the over para. whats the meaning of "since in the United States 60 percent of tissue samples from mesotheliomas, but none from healthy tissue, contain SV40" ? i am confusing as the para has too many commas. does it want to say 60 percent of tissue samples contain SV40

Resolved Question: Is there a good or safe way to remove asbestos that insulates pipes leading from your boiler / heater?

I know you have to have a company in hazmat suits arrive out and they seal the area off and work with a machine that draws in the air and fibers, but isn't there still some residue in the air and on things that can be dangerous? I'm worried I should sell the home and not live here myself during or after the renovation. I'm worried about mesothelioma... lung cancer from inhaling bits of asbestos. So far, I've just not touched the asbestos... hoping not stirring it up would be safer, but now I have problems with my boiler and will have to have it replaced, which means dealing with the asbestos problem. sigh.

Resolved Question: I worked in a forge in the early '70s and used alot of friable asbestos to pack the molds when we poured metal

I've had a cough since that time, but it has never gotten worse, but it's never gotten better. My voice goes out quickly, I can't talk for long periods of time. Whenever I mention this to a doctor, they just prescribe cough medicine, but every cough medicine has stuff in it that I'm intolerant of, so I end up not taking it. Should I be worried about asbestosis or mesothelioma. And if so, can it be cured?
